The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve reduces nitrogen oxides (NOx) that cause pollution by recirculating a portion of the exhaust gas back into the engine’s combustion system. Recirculating the exhaust helps cool the engine cylinders, resulting in less NOx gases. The EGR Valve opens and closes to control the flow of the exhaust gas so it can mix with the incoming air/fuel mixture and be burned off again.

The EGR Valve Temperature Sensor is located under hood, near the EGR valve.
